THE RAINBOW SASH MOVEMENT
Bringing the Gifts, Witness, Challenge
Of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender People
Into the Heart of the Catholic Church
A NATIONAL CALL TO GATHER IN RAINBOW SOLIDARITY
Washington D. C. November 12th 2000 AD
The National Conference of Catholic Bishops of the United States
The Rainbow Sash Movement calls on Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender
Catholics, with their families, friends and supporters, to join us in
wearing the Rainbow Sash, and participating in the celebration of the
Eucharist in St Mark’s (?) Cathedral, Washington DC on Sunday November
12
As our bishops gather for their National Conference, we will pray for
them, and for the whole Church, that together we may seek a new embrace
of human sexuality in all of its diversity and beauty.
Join us as we become visible within the church, moving beyond
marginalisation, exclusion and fear.
With dignity, reverence and pride let us publicly claim our place
amongst God's People, standing up for ourselves within the Christian
Community, wearing the symbol of the Rainbow Sash to the table of the
Eucharist.
Let us call the church to conversion of heart.
The Rainbow Sash will also be worn at the Bishops’ Mass in the National
Basilica on Monday November 13
This weekend will mark the first time the Rainbow Sash has been worn at
an official Catholic Eucharist in the United States.
Join us for this historic event.
